HOW TO RECORD IN FL STUDIO USING EDISON

select empty mixer track

RHS > slot 1 > select edison

resize to fit


CONTROLS:

top:

play pause record, record modes


right below that:

tools and menus


main area: waveform display

(may say "click to load a sample")


HOW TO GET AUDIO INTO THERE

1) 

drag and drop any sample from the LHS

to play, hit play button in edison

to delete, hit del key

fl studio > options > audio settings

device: ASIO4ALL v2

sample rate: 48000

*note, you cant play youtube videos when you switch

gotta switch it back to realtek


2) 

recording separately:

record in external source (mic, guitar, etc)

mixer > top > arrow symbol (none) > choose input

choose your mic

*if you cant see, may need to go to fl studio > options > audio settings

you will hear your voice doubled

to off:

edison > top RHS(beside edison logo) > loudspeaker icon > click it to turn it off

OR

mixer > input > turn off mic


choose a diff recording mode:

edison > top bar > beside record button, change 'on input' to 'now' > for: 5 mins

hit record

now its recording without cluttering up timeline, its not playing whats there


waveform is all highlighted in red

to select specific, use Ctrl

CTrl + A for all


to delete everything:

Ctrl+A, then Del key


to record together:

hit record in edison

hit play in FL studio main



HOW TO GET SOUND INTO PROJECT:

Select what you want(using Ctrl)

edison > tools bar > 2nd from the right(cursor with paper icon)

OR

edison > tools bar > most right(arrow with audio waveform icon) > send to playlist as audio clip(Ctrl+C)



MORE ADVANCED WAY OF RECORDING:

edison > change mode beside record button to "On Play"

can select just a part of the selected part on the timeline

can press record in edison, but it wont record until you press play in FL studio main

*thats why need to select area to play

will have markers called splits(they're called song jumps)

*IMPORTANT NOTE! Make sure track 1 is empty if youre recording on Track 1

otherwise it will record it too!


TO select:

left and right arrow keys

delete the ones you dont like, and the ends



TO ONLY Record 1 part, record internal sound:

select area you want

select guitar track on mixer

LOAD EDISON: Ctrl + E

record mode: NOW

record in edison, play in FL studio

DISPLAY MODES

all in eye icon(2nd row in edison)

dual view help you see spectrum so you can see noise

spectrum more removes BG so you can see more


change colour:

display settings > spectrum gradient > will change colour



quality:

display settings > spectrum precision > play with options

Controlling the editor


selecting: click and drag, ctrl to select new

delete: del key

delete everything else: ctrl + del

undo: Ctrl Z(also at the top), can RMB to see history(starts from btm)


slicing: will add slices where it thinks chords starts

LMB is auto slicing

RMB is custom

can add marker to manually add


use left and right to select segment by segment, separated by markers


normalize: Ctrl + N or horz lines on waveform button


trim/gate noise: vert lines on waveform

LMB will trim

RMB will gate



get noise threshold(profile): select noise > Alt + N

a bar will appear beside the edison logo, adjust it to cover the nosie 


fade and declick:

LMB fade

RMB declick

declick is steeper to 0, fade is more gradual, might not even end on 0


denoise: toothbrush



MORE ARTISTIC EFFECTS:


reversing:

edison > wrench > time > reverse (or alt + left)

*select everything first, or select note per note


reverb: look like clit

select area you want

select impulse(main area) > click default > go to library(in explorer)

turn wet on if needed

normalize ( Ctrl + N )


non destructive fade:

dblclick clip in timeline > content > declicking mode > crossfade


more effects:

put in in mixer, add more reverb



EQ: for underwater effects

looks like vert bar graph button

select what you want

adjust frequencies wanted, make a nice curve

only area selected was affected



panning:

bottom of edison > first button is waveform, hit the 2nd from the right(looks lie bowtie)

can draw curve 

OR

select point > choose pulse type



volume: third button from right, looks like triangle.



stereo to mono: other bow tie



blur tool:

rich atmosphere, dreamy, like in cave or something

really good to have UNDERNEATH the whole song

EQ it: take away low end, boost highs, duck it under track
